2016-2017 Season
During the 2016-2017 season we had our first tournament in Eden Prairie on November 19th. In qualifying matches we obtained second over all, and were captains of the winning alliance with Tempest Automatons 9418 and Firebots 4207. We were also finalists for many awards and won the Inspire award, which was something we had greatly strived for. Since we were captains and Inspire winners we have already qualified for the Minnesota State Tournament. In our second qualifying tournament, we were first in the qualifying matches so we were able to pick first for the alliance selection. Our alliance was second overall and included Auto Anonymous and Limited Addition. The Rubies won the Connect Award, the Promote Award, the third place Inspire Award and were nominated for many other awards.
At the Minnesota State tournament, our team was on a finalist team in the Galaxy Division. Our alliance consisted of the Ice Breakers 10397 and Typhoons 9430, two teams that we were able to collaborate very well with. We had an amazing day and were able to converse with other FTC teams, judges and spectators about FIRST and STEM. In the awards ceremony we were nominated for the Stratasys Award and Promote Award, we also won the Connect Award, which allowed us to advance to Super-Regionals in Iowa.
One of our team-members, Izzie Mack, advanced to the finalist position of Dean's List! wish her luck!
At the North Super Regional Tournament held in Iowa, we ended in 11th rank at the end of the qualifying matches. We had a great time and we were able to make connections with other teams from all the Northern states. Our team received a wait list spot and will be advancing to the World Championships on April 26th 2017. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has made this possible including our sponsors and mentors.
This year we went to our first World Championship! We were able to meet so many teams in St. Louis and got a lot of good feedback for how to improve our team. It was such a great way to end our second season as a team! We are extremely grateful to everyone who has made this possible including our sponsors and mentors.
