FTC is a robotics program for students in grades 7-12. FTC stands for FIRST Tech Challenge, one of the four programs affiliated with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). In this program, we build an 18 cubic inch robot and program it to do specific tasks in the Java language, while recording our entire process throughout the season in a detailed engineering notebook. We also participate in community and business outreach, while educating others about STEM and other available robotics programs.
We compete in tiered competitions with the opportunity of going to a world competition to compete with the top FTC teams. In these competitions, we meet with other teams and run our robots in alliances. We are not only judged on our robot design, but our impact in the community.
A key aspect of all FIRST programs is Gracious Professionalism. Teams must display respect at all times.
